About
Who we are
We are an assemblage of creatives around the world, committed to making visible the stories between stories. Our work helps others sense and listen to the narratives that connect our living systems and make life possible.
“TÁPI” is a portmanteau of the words “talking” and “piece.” A “talking piece”—whether it’s a handicraft, a stone, a stick or a puppet—carries its own set of stories. As it grounds each new circle of people around it, it carries new stories forward and creates new connections and narrative constellations. Read more about it on our Medium article.
We are human beings based in Austin, USA, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and Manila, Philippines, but scattered and circulating on all 5 continents.
What we believe
If stories connect us to each other, then images are the connective tissue that move each story into being.
We believe that each image counts. Each pixel helps sustain life or tear it down. It’s as simple as that.
As filmmakers and creatives our role is to be a witness.
When trusted by the original storytellers, we help carry those images of bodies, faces, landscapes and communities farther than they could on their own.
We use creativity to help dignify communities, extend the reach of local changemakers, and amplify the sound of people envisioning something better for their villages and cities.
Our images don’t make the world a better place on their own—they help cut through the clutter so that someone watching them can see the value of what was already there to begin with.
Who we’ve worked with
We have helped share the work of large global players like UNDP, ILO, USAID, World YMCA, World YWCA, WHO, Visa Innovation Labs, and APEC. We are equally proud of the work we have done with local and regional NGOs such as MamaBaby Haiti, Blind Link, Justice and Soul Foundation, Good Return and the Asia Foundation amongst many others.
