Our dear community,

As we continue to adjust to our new normal during the Covid-19 crisis, our hearts are with the members of our community who need the most help. While many things are still unclear, one thing that is becoming increasingly clear is that we are all connected. From lost work and income, lack of support and feeling of loneliness and loss of clear directions, we are all affected by this pandemic.

Everything has shifted and plans have been derailed. We are charting unknown territory. As filmmakers, our travel plans have been cancelled and projects postponed. We are not able to work like usual.

We each need a way forward, but you may feel lost or stuck about what to do next. You may have to figure out new plans. Or brainstorm new ideas. Or maybe you know what you need to do, but don’t know how to start.

Because of this, we are pivoting our services to introduce a new offering:

The Unstuck Series

We’re listening.

The Offer:

For the next six weeks, we’ll be offering the UNSTUCK series: 45 minute virtual consultations on storytelling, creativity, and design aimed to help you:

  1.  Shift your perspective

  2. Gain new ideas

  3. Get unstuck

What do we mean by being “stuck”? Some scenarios we’ve seen are:

  • Starting a business, but unsure of where to start or what you are offering.

  • Needing to create a fundraiser video, but unfamiliar with the tools.

  • Wanting to create a professional academic website, but unsure how to present oneself digitally.

  • Brainstorming a name of a new business, but unclear on the product.

  • Questioning whether to re-write copy on a website, but uncertain that it’s the real problem.

Being “stuck” can exist in whichever scenario, business, or even personal project. In our experience, often times what we think we’re stuck on is not the actually problem. We would be listening to what’s underneath, or above, or out of sight from where you are and help you shift.

Here’s how it would go:

  1. Think about the challenges you are facing, and decide what you want to bring to the table.

  2. Book your time, and answer 3 questions in the appointment form to help us frame the conversation.

  3. Have a Zoom call with two of our team members for a 45 min consultation.

  4. We send you our summary from the conversation.

  5. You offer what you can here at our Paypal.

  6. We will email you to check-in one week after our session :)

These consultations are based on a generosity model:

We are offering this on a pay-what-you-can model: 50% of what you contribute will go directly to us as a team to help us operate, and we will donate the other 50% to local charities in Austin and Manila that are working on helping vulnerable communities during Covid-19. Like us, we understand that in this time, many of you are also facing significant monetary challenges. By applying this generosity model, we hope to offer you a way to expand your creative potential and see the new opportunities that emerge while helping our creatives continue to work. If you have more questions about our model, please check out our FAQs at the bottom of the page.

50% of all funds that we receive from you will be donated to:

Caritas of Novaliches in Manila, Philippines

Feeding America Food Banks in the USA

By the end of the 6 weeks, we will send a note out to all of you the amount of money we have raised for each of the organizations.

We’re looking forward to seeing you online.

Our best,

Samuel, Ái, Akira, and Rafa

Why?

In many ways, these are unprecedented times. Rules are different. What worked before is no longer viable. We need new ways. Drastic measures. A major recourse. We know how to navigate uncharted waters and see better into the future, to get to the clarity of purpose, and to get moving. We want to help you get where you need to go by charting a new course with you.

Our team is respectively inviting you to pay what you can towards the values you see and receive from our session together. Within your means.

50% of the money we receive goes towards our living wages (all the team members have lost income in these times, and every little helps), and the other 50% goes to the causes we believe in and need your help.

How?

What would the 45 minute consultation look like?

In order to offer holistic, embodied consultation holding the space for emergent insights, we use a triangle configuration: you + 2 of our team members. The process is:

  • 2 minutes of check-in

  • 3 minutes of grounding + mindfulness

  • 10 min of case presentation from you

  • 5 min of mirroring—reflective feedback from practiced listeners

  • 10 min of generative dialogue and ideation

  • 5 min of convergence—the next step(s)

  • 5 min of final comments + check out

FAQs:

  1. How much should I pay? What would be “fair?”

    > Normally our consultations range between $100-$150 per hour. However, any amount during these times helps and your gifts go directly to us to help us operate our business and for us to help donate to other organizations doing good work.

  2. Why are you doing this on a Pay-what-you-can basis?

    > We believe in generosity. We believe in reciprocity, and we stand by the value we offer in these services. If you are severely limited in means and you really need this, or would like to offer something non-monetary, please talk to us.

  3. Why don’t I just donate money to the charity I want, if it’s about helping people?

    > We definitely encourage you to donate to whichever charity you’d like! Your gift for the consultations also helps our creatives pay for every day expenses such as groceries, bills, and living costs while we’re unable to work as usual. While you might think your contribution is small, it goes a long way for our creatives working in Southeast Asia where living costs are about 1/3 of what they are in the USA.

  4. After the 4-week period, are you going to stop offering this?

    > If there is a continued need, then we will definitely keep offering these. If you’re unable to schedule during the four weeks, please send us a message and we’ll schedule accordingly. :)

  5. What happens after my session? Can I continue to get help from you?

    > Yes! You can keep booking consultations, or we’re also available for production work :)
